Calm in the midst of Chaos

As I looked through my Facebook timeline this morning after the 2016 election, all I could see was shock, dismay, despair and fear. So many of us are fearful and worried about what the next four years will bring. Well, I’m here to tell you that I slept well last night and will continue to sleep well because I have inner peace in the midst of all this chaos. I want to encourage you to go within and find your inner peace as well. So many people have been severely stressed by the outcome of this election but we have ultimate control over our emotions and the amount of energy that we give to negative situations. There are three steps to moving forward from this situation…

  1. Release – let go of what’s causing the stressful situation and free yourself to move forward
  2. Refocus – put your attention and resources on something different
  3. Recover – return to a healthy state of mind and regain control and get back to life

Start the release by letting go of speaking and thinking negatively about the situation. Continuing to worry and give it negative energy will do nothing but increase your stress levels. Refocus your attention to other things that are priority in your life. What are the positive things that are going on in your life? Focus your thoughts on positive things that will reduce your stress level. Releasing and refocusing will move you into a place for recovery, returning to a healthy state of mind.
